The Interfaith Network Against Corruption (INAC) and the Mambayya House Aminu Kano Centre for Democratic Studies, Bayero University, Kano has sensitized youth groups against corruption along religious perspective in Bauchi State.Co-chairman of INAC and Director of Islamic Civilization, Kano, Dr Bashir Aliyu Umar, admonished the participants to embrace the culture of fearing of God.

He also said they should adhere to ethnic values and practice that in their daily activities through self-control against overzealous quest for ill-gotten wealth, which is a critical step to shun all forms of corruption.He said, “Islam condemns giving and receiving bribes, examination malpractices, diversion of public funds, selling justice for money, changing good things to bad, cheating, and all other forms of corruption.”

 “The message against corruption is a call on all of us to go back to the basics; living by our values, the values of truthfulness, honesty, accountability and transparency. In so doing, we create a synergy towards national development, peace and justice in the world.”

A resource person, Fatima Nataala, said the network focuses on youths to catch them young because they form greater percentage and have the power to change the social and political dynamics. She noted that to fight corruption, the youths should be properly educated, they should go in search of better opportunities in life and become innovative.
